This is the announcement for the 31. Symposium on Surface Science (3S*18), which will take place at the Bundes Ski Akademy St. Christoph in St. Anton am Arlberg, Austria, from Sunday, February 25th to Saturday, March 3rd, 2018.
The topics of 3S*18 will include all aspects of surface science, including, but not limited to
The scientific program will include about 30 - 40 oral presentations (20 minutes talks including discussion), to be selected from the submitted extended abstracts. All other contributions will be presented as posters. Poster boards are 180 cm high and 90 cm wide. Poster sessions will be preceded by poster introductions, where authors will have the opportunity to orally present highlights of their work as a “2-minute commercial”.
All participants will be accommodated in the Bundes Ski Academy St. Christoph am Arlberg next to St. Anton am Arlberg (Austria) in single and two-bed rooms (all with shower/bath, WC and TV). We have only a limited number of rooms at our disposal and therefore urge you to fill out the online-registration form as soon as possible. If possible please indicate a room mate (another participant), with whom you would like to share your room. Accompanying persons are possible, but will have to pay the full fee. The number of single rooms is small and you need to confirm their availability by e-mail to F. Aumayr [email address: lastname @ this server · enable javascript to see it] first! All registrations will be handled strictly on a first come - first serve basis. The symposium will start in the evening of Sunday, February 25, 2018. You should therefore plan to arrive on Sunday afternoon the latest. However, arrival on Saturday, February 24, 2018 is possible for an additional fee. Upon registration, you will receive the conference proceedings together with the final program. Full board starts on Sunday evening with dinner. The scientific program runs from Sunday evening to Friday evening. Departure is on Saturday, March 3, 2018 after breakfast. In addition to the scientific program, an important purpose of this symposium is to enable informal contacts during daily skiing activities. Therefore, lectures, poster introductions and poster presentations will take place during the morning and evening hours. A symposioum day will have the following format:

Contributions to the conference proceedings (extended abstracts, 2 page maximum) are to be submitted no later than December 31, 2017 and should be sent electronically. For preparation and submission follow the instructions on our Abstract submission page.
The all-inclusive conference fee for 3S*18 is
Euro 1300.- for participants sharing a double room with another paying participant
Euro 150.- additional fee for arrival on Saturday, Februar 25, 2018 (accommodation and full board, but no ski-pass)
Euro 350.- additional fee for single room (sorry, single rooms are sold out, June 28, 2017!)
To guarantee your participation please transfer the full fee until November 1st, 2017. Registration without receipt of payment at this date will be automatically cancelled. Your fee will be refunded in full if cancelled before Dec. 1st, 2017. After this date the cancellation fee increases to 700 Euro. Instructions for paying the conference fee.
